PAL IS PUZZLED...ARE YOU ALSO(CASE-1) ??GM vs UAW

So GM(General Motors Corp) and UAW (United Auto Workers Union) failed to reach an agreement and UAW decided to go on strike.


PAL IS PUZZLED.....WHY? WHY? WHY???????????


GM have no dearth of resources!


Gm have a Big HRD Department full of management experts and what- not experts.

US have a lot of top Business and Management Schools of the world .

US have lot of Management Gurus and best-sellar writers on EXELLENCE,CONFLICT MANAGEMENT,WIN-WIN TECHNIQUES,SUCCESSFUL NEGOTIATIONS and what-not

Then...why??

ARE YOU ALSO PUZZLED... WHY??
Critic:What do you think?
Pal:*UAW should help GM to increase its ROI and

*GM should fulfill its obligations of job security and health to UAW .

Critic: Easier said than done. Do you know that GM have big Financial Planning Models.

Pal: There is No Finance in Financial Planning Models.

Critic: Who...who says so??

Pal: Stewart C. Myers and Richard A. Brealey and PRINCIPLES OF CORPORATE FINANCE.

Critic: What....what do you mean? GM does not need any Financial Planning Model.

Pal:Gm needs good Finance Manager's ANALYTICAL Financial Planning Models , but not Accountant's Financial Planning Models.

Puzzled Critic: What....what....what...what.......????

The solution lies in SIMPLE THINKING, whereas

Corporates are accustomed to Three-dimentional or Hyperbolic Thinkings.


SIMPLE THINKING gives us a two points solution :

*GM needs incremental increase in ROI to fulfill its job security and health obligations to UAW.

*GM and UAW need a good HRME friend to waive thier three magic-sticks( Man-Material-Energy) WISELY, to avoid strike and to save the $ 8 Billion per month loss to GM.

Critic:US is full of the best management schools producing top class MBAs.

Pal :The management schools and their MBAs are very good in conducting management games but are afraid to tackle real life prblems.

Critic :Large corporations hire these MBAs on top salaries and they are successful .How do you explain this ??

Pal : Large corporations have vast resources and well maintained management practices. No doubt the MBAs are the top intelligent brains because Management Schools' screening & admission tests ensure the same .The MBAs enjoy and just maintain the good practices ,but fail in challanges and change management when the corporation faces troubles and cut-throat competition.

Ctitic :In US , there is no dearth of Anglo-Saxon and Japanese HRD which are full of large voluminous literature. How your this 7Fs Of HRMD , just sixteen pages , is going to help GM and UAW ?

Pal : Large voluminous HRMD books are very good for class-room and board-room discussions.

HRMD decisions are easy to discuss but very difficult to implement.

Critic : Why do you think that Indian HRD will succeed where Anglo-Saxon and Japanese HRD have failed?

Pal :Anglo-Saxon HRMD works where laws favour owners and stakeholders and hire-fire policy.Indian HRMD works where laws favour workers and job security policy . Indian HRMD has to work under most adverse and demanding conditions.
Critic : Any proof ?
Pal : Some large Indian organisations like Indian Railways , India Posts , TISCO , Mittal Steel , Taj Group Of Hotels , Christian Medical College -Vellore , etc prove positive on 7Fs Of HMRD.
Critic : What d'you call such an investment ? A BLOGGER'S INVESTMENT !
Pal : Accountants call it `SUNK COSTS INVESTMENT '. Financial Managers call it `INTANGIBLE ASSETS INVESTMENT '. I do not know under which category you fall.
Critic : What are the man , material and energy magic-sticks for GM and UAW .
Pal looked thoughtfully at the Critic.
Critic is one of the most beautiful women of the world .
Pal : You have a very beautiful body . But to make any improvement , the doctor needs to know your body just like his body .
Critic : Nonsense ! Incompetent ! Irrelevant ! What is the relevance of this statement ?
Pal : Elementary my dear Watson ! Before discussing the magic-sticks ,the HRME friend needs to know GM and UAW just like his own body .
Mischievous Critic : You..... You and your HRME friend do not know anything about my body .
Mischievous Pal : We would very much like to know .
PUZZLED CRITIC : What...what...what...what.......??????
